City Walkabout ("we," "our," or "us") respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use our mobile application ("App") and related services.

1.1 Account Information

• Email Address and Password: If you create an account using email and password, we collect and store your email address. Passwords are securely handled by a third-party service (Firebase) and are not accessible to us.
• Google Sign-In: If you use Google to sign in, we collect your name and email address.

1.2 User Inputs

When you use certain features of the App, we collect:

• City, country, or location information (if you choose to use your location as the starting point).
• Your interests, preferred search radius, and the number of locations selected for a Walkabout.
• Images taken during the scavenger activities (processed and verified by OpenAI).

1.3 Tracking Technologies

• We may use technologies to remember your login session and preferences. This allows you to remain signed in across sessions.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the collected information for the following purposes:

• To provide and improve the App's functionality.
• To personalize user experiences and suggest routes and activities.
• To verify images during scavengeabout activities.
• To respond to user inquiries submitted via the contact form.

3. Sharing Your Information

We may share information with third-party services as follows:

• Firebase: Used for user authentication, data storage, and secure data transmission.
• Google Maps API: Used to generate routes and location data based on user inputs.
• OpenAI API: Used to generate Walkabout content and process and verify user-submitted images during scavengeabout activities.

4. Data Retention

• Your account information is retained as per Firebase's retention policy unless you request deletion via our contact form.
• Images in Scavengeabout are only retained for the duration of the app session.

5. User Rights

5.1 Account Deletion

You can request account deletion by submitting a request via our contact form. Upon account deletion:

• All associated data, including email and name, will be deleted.

5.2 Children's Accounts

Parents or guardians can inquire about or request deletion of a minor's account by contacting us via the contact form.

6. Permissions

The App may request the following permissions:

• Location: To allow you to set your starting point for a Walkabout.
• Camera: To enable photo capturing for scavenger activities.

7. Security Measures

We use the following measures to secure your data:

• All data transmitted between the App and Firebase servers is encrypted using HTTPS and TLS (Transport Layer Security).
• Data stored on Firebase servers is encrypted at rest using AES-256 encryption.

8. Analytics

We use Amplitude Analytics to better understand how users interact with our application and to improve its functionality and user experience. Amplitude Analytics collects data in an anonymized format using a randomly generated user ID. This means that while we gather usage data, it cannot be directly linked to any personally identifiable information about you.

The data we collect and analyze includes:

Information provided by you in the app, such as:

• Starting Point location
• Selected Interests
• Number of Locations
• Search Radius

Interaction data, such as:

• How you navigate the application
• Features you use

This information is used solely to enhance the app's features, provide personalized experiences, and ensure the app functions as intended. All data collected through Amplitude Analytics is handled in compliance with applicable privacy laws and regulations.

9. Children's Privacy

The App is not specifically intended for children under 13 (or under 16 in some regions). However, it is appropriate for children, and they are not restricted from downloading the App. Sign-in is not required for basic use of the App. Parents or guardians can contact us to request account deletion or to inquire about their child's data.

10. AI-Generated Content and Reporting

Our app uses OpenAI's generative AI models to generate walking tour content for Walkabout. While we strive to ensure that the content generated by the app is safe and appropriate, we understand that AI-generated content may occasionally produce undesirable results.

To maintain a safe environment, we provide an in-app feature that allows users to report any inappropriate, offensive, or harmful AI-generated content. If you encounter such content, you can flag it using the in-app reporting form.

All user reports will be reviewed, and necessary steps will be taken to address and report any violations to OpenAI. We are committed to continuously improving our content moderation practices and ensuring that all AI-generated content remains appropriate for all users.
